First Canal Festival
Glasgow’s North side will come to life on Saturday 22 July for the first ever Glasgow Canal Festival.
Starting at 11am, the Forth & Clyde Canal between Applecross Basin and Speirs Wharf will be transformed into a bustling entertainment hub with an array of different activities for all ages.
Street theatre, canoe try-out sessions, craft workshops, wildlife tours, a street food village, live music and a boat cruise along Glasgow’s canal are just some of the events taking place.
There will also be face painting and bubble making for the little ones at our very own Queens Cross Housing Association community stall, as well as ‘wee dig’ – an archaeological dig that gives youngsters aged three and over the chance to explore and get their hands dirty.
That’s all before Glasgow’s first ever Dragon Boat Race which rounds off the day.
The inaugural event sees 10 teams of fifteen compete in a series of heats before battling in the final to be crowned Dragon Boat Racing champion.
