About You

We are looking for individuals with proven experience in new housing projects of varied size and complexity. The Clerk of Works will be expected to provide the technical expertise to the Development team through all stages of new housing projects as well as providing a site inspection presence from site start to completion, handover and end of year defects inspection.

You will also have experience of working effectively with contractors, good communication skills, the ability to prioritise workloads and with a strong commitment to excellent customer care. Membership of ICWCI/CIOB professional bodies and a relevant qualification in a related discipline is desirable.

With experience in the construction industry in supervision or management, you will be able to manage your own workload and prioritise competing demands to meet deadlines. You will hold a HNC or higher qualification in a Building / Technical / Construction related subject. You will have a good working knowledge of building technology and current regulations as well as knowledge of all health and safety compliance procedures relating to new build housing developments.

You will take pride in your work to achieve an excellent end product by communicating effectively and using professional judgment and expertise in all aspects of your work. You will be comfortable in working to your own initiative and be able to understand both your role and the position of other stakeholders.  At all times you will represent the Association in a positive and professional manner.

You will be self-aware and self-motivated to realise your full potential with the ability to take responsibility for own learning and continuous improvement.  You will have good written and oral communication skills and be computer literate with MS office suite. You will respond positively to testing new initiatives and encourage the sharing of experiences to improve performance and solve problems. You will also have experience of and a commitment to ensuring excellent customer service for all our stakeholders.

About Us

Queens Cross is a community-based Housing Association, a ‘not for profit’ organisation and recognised Scottish charity. We provide nearly 4,500 homes in an area that stretches north from Glasgow city centre along either side of the Forth and Clyde Canal.  Our housing stock includes multi-storey flats, deck access properties and tenements as well as new build housing and we have been providing high quality homes and services to tenants and owners for more than 40 years.

With significant growth in our Development and Investment programmes, our small Development team now requires 2 experienced Clerk of Works to provide inspection and supervision services on site.  These posts will support the successful delivery of new build housing projects as well as a variety of smaller refurbishment works.  With 320 units identified in its Hamiltonhill Regeneration proposals alone, and with other sites being progressed, the Association will have a substantial Development programme over the next few years.  In addition, under the North West Partners Development Hub we currently provide Clerk of Work services for Maryhill and Glasgow West HAs development programmes, presently identified at 170 units.
