QC Service recognised as LGBT champion
The Queens Cross Youth Homelessness service has been recognised as a champion of LGBT inclusion.
The service gained the bronze LGBT Youth Charter by demonstrating that equality, diversity and inclusion is at the heart of the organisation.
Patrick Harvie MSP (back right) was in attendance as the service was presented with the accolade from LGBT Youth Scotland.
The team regularly hold events to raise awareness of LGBTi issues and don rainbow coloured lanyards in the office to celebrate diversity.
They have also been given LGBTi awareness training, which has provided them with the knowledge and skills to offer the right support to people when it’s needed.
Housing support working Jolene Scotford was involved in the service gaining the award.
“Since I became an LGBTI champion I’ve noticed an increasing confidence in young people within the LGBTI community seeking support and getting involved with events.
“I’m immensely proud of the journey we are on in raising awareness and providing inclusive support.”
